As of March 2008, our vendor has stopped manufacturing the ALOS Reader Printers Z-40 and Z-43. There is a limited product inventory that has been secured before manufacturing stopped. Once inventory is depleted however, the above mentioned products will be discontinued.
Factors that contributed to this decision include meeting the European RoHS environmental standard (the restriction of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment). The increase costs of meeting these new standards and the decline of analog product sales due to the increasing popularity of the digital products, such as the ALOS Z-Scan 46-II, made it not economically feasible to continue manufacturing the aforementioned products.
While we understand that the Z-40 and Z-43 have long been part of our product lineup, ALOS and HANNALA will be focusing on digital products. The digital microform scanner ALOS Z-Scan 46-II will continue to be available. This products have been enhanced to meet the new European RoHS mandate. New drivers that office Vista compatibility were recently released for those customers using the new Vista operating system.
